The Coalition spokespeople have been quite churlish in their response to Australia taking a seat in the UN Security Council. Had it been their initiative it would have been shouted from the rooftops. Under no circumstances can this group say anything good is happening in Autralia at present. Not low interest rates, not above world average growth rates, not low unemployment, nothing. That the Shadow Foreign Minioster Julie Bioshop trearts this achievement in such a low underhand way ( wait two years and see) shows that she, and the Opposition, do not have the foreign affairs nouse to make the most of this if/when they achieve government. What would they do, wait and see and do nothing meaningful in the interim. Then again, that is what they have been doing since the last Federal election.
You can hear their brains rattling in their crania as they try to respond to good news.
As Fairfax continues it’s slide to irrelevancy what does so-called “International Editor” Peter Hartcher present us with ?. An informative piece perhaps on just what this seat on the Security Council means for our country so the great unwashed like me can understand what all this means as opposed to Fairfax like it’s gutter rivals at News Ltd simply repeating Coalition talking points.
No. He writes a bizarre haliography on John Howard with the quite insane claim that most of our pollies are itching to ape this proven liar (WMD, “Human shredding Machines”).

The rest of the “usual suspects” are no better and as for the Coalition….what a miserable bunch of low life sods ever to grace our national parliament. This has not been seen in MY lifetime at least and I have been following politics for about 30 years.
julie Bishop the clueless Shadow foreign minister seems to have aboput as much clue about foreign affairs as my 97 year old mother has, that is to say….NONE. A vacuous nasty Bridesmaid never the bride deputy if ever there was one. Mirabella is destined for Hades in her next lifetime.
