Matthew Donovan was brought up in rural Central Queensland, before running a successful business on the Gold Coast.
He later moved to South Australia and, in 2010, ran as the Liberal Party candidate for Mawson in the South Australian state elections. He currently works in the water industry.
Matt lives in southern Adelaide with his daughter, Grace. He is also the brother of IA managing editor David Donovan.
